What the current Tokyo taxi qualification exam covers

For drivers working in Tokyo's designated taxi area, the current qualification exam administered through the Tokyo Taxi Center focuses on regulations, safety, and customer service. Official information states that the exam has 45 questions and requires 36 correct answers, or 80%, to pass. Official implementation materials show a 15/15/15 subject split and a format of 40 true/false questions plus 5 word-bank selection questions.

The former geography subject was removed from the formal qualification exam in February 2024. Geography is still useful for training and day-to-day taxi work, so this site keeps Tokyo facilities, wards, roads, and intersections as a separate practice area rather than mixing them into the current qualification-exam drill.

For current schedules, eligibility, fees, and official rules, check the Tokyo Taxi Center exam information.

Built for repeated exam practice

Instead of only serving random questions, the study flow gives more weight to new questions, weak areas, and material you have not reviewed recently.

45-question rules, safety and service T/F drill

The drill uses 15 questions each for rules, safety, and customer service. Answers stay hidden until submission, and you can move back to earlier questions. It is not an exact reproduction of the official paper because the official five word-bank questions are not included yet.

Smart review

New, weak, and overdue questions are mixed automatically. Questions you miss can reappear later in the same study session.

Japanese Class 2 license and Tokyo geography

Practice basic Class 2 driving knowledge plus Tokyo facilities, wards, roads, and intersections by topic.

No required account

Use the tool locally first. If you want to move progress between phones or computers, email sync is optional, and password protection is optional too.

A practical study flow

Start with 10 questions

Use a short session to get familiar with the question style. Focus on which topics make you hesitate instead of chasing a perfect score immediately.

Repeat weak questions

Missed questions are recorded as weak areas. The review system keeps bringing them back until you can answer them consistently.

Finish with the 45-question T/F drill

Once the basics feel stable, review 15 rules, 15 safety, and 15 customer-service questions in one session. Answers remain hidden until submission. Prepare separately for the official word-bank question type.

Keep geography separate

Tokyo geography is no longer part of the formal qualification exam, but route knowledge remains practical for real taxi work and training assessments.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 45-question drill identical to the official exam format?

Does the current Tokyo taxi qualification exam include geography?

The current formal qualification exam focuses on regulations, safety, and customer service. The geography subject was removed from the formal test, but geography remains useful for training and practical route knowledge.
